Hey there y’all! Its Tuesday and The Broke and Bookish is officially off hiatus so it’s time for an official Top Ten Tuesday. Today’s Topic was “Recommendations for people who like __.” I feel like everyone and their brother has done the Hogwarts houses and I have a friend who regularly does Disney Princesses. So the next logical choice for me was the fairy courts from ACOTAR.
You can take a quiz here to find out what court you are. We actually don’t know much about the Dawn court, my court, except that they like clockwork stuff and tinkering. Also they like bright thing and tend to put other people’s happiness above their own and shy away from certain danger. Finally we know they have the power to heal. Some of these recs are reaching a bit but come along for the ride.
Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
This is a steampunk zombie series. Lots of mechanical devices and such.
Infernal Devices by Cassanda Clare
Another series with clockwork creatures in it.
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
One of the Queens in this story has the power to digest any poison. But in reverse she can recognize the antidote in order to heal. Similar powers to the Dawn Court.
The Inexplicable Logic of my Life by Benjamin Alire Saenz
This book takes an indepth look into friendships and how people deal with tragedy. I think those in the Dawn Court would appreciate the way these characters put their friends above their own needs.
Jem and the Holograms vol 1
This has some of the brightest and most colorful art. Just like the Dawn sky.
Orange complete vol 1
This series focuses on six friends when they are 16. 5 of them receive a letter from their future self telling them to save the 6th friend from committing suicide. Dawn Courters will love this manga because the time travel thing isn’t just thrown in there but discussed. Like they talk about how if their present selves change their actions will it affect the future selves who wrote the letters, or are their multiple parallel universes. It’s pretty cool.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
This is another book about a very tight group of friends and how they spend their first summer apart from one another. Dawn Court people will appreciate the friendship and learning to be a good friend but having to stand on your own, something we struggle with.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I think those in the Dawn Court will enjoy this book because it’s a mix between fantasy and science fiction. There are cyborgs and AI’s. There’s a group of really close friends that take on the world together. A perfect combination for Dawn Court people.
Paper Magican by Charlie N Holmberg
I think the magic system in this story will intrigue those in the Dawn Court. As will the main character who risks her life for her mentor that she cares about.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
This is hit or miss novel. Why I think it would appeal to the Dawn Court is that the main character does everything she can to save her best friend, from healing her when all hope is lost to following her to the capitol where she is to be “tested”.
I hope you guys enjoyed this list of recs for the Dawn Court. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read any of these and if you’re in the Dawn Court. TTYL.
This is such a unique recommendations list! I love it.

Ooh quizzes! Love those. Turns out I’m a Summer Court- er. But I still like your recs. 🙂 Three Dark crowns was fun, I loved thinking about who would win and who I liked (I ended liking all three, for different reasons).
Inexplicable Logic looks good too.

Fun pick and this list is jam packed with awesome books. It’s fun to see Jem on the list. I was obsessed with that show when I was a kid.

Oh, apparently I’m Dawn Court as well! And well, I love so many of the books on this list, so I’d say it’s pretty accurate 😉 LOVED Orange (though I watched the anime and haven’t read the manga yet)
