Top Tuesday Books I Loved Less Than I Thought I Would

It’s Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday was started by The Broke and Bookish. Today’s topic is books I liked less than I thought I would. Don’t you just hate when you highly anticipate  a book , you get it in your hands, then you read it and just don’t like it.

10. Ever the Hunted

I was really looking forward to this book. I went to the bookstore to buy it and it wasn’t available. Then the next day it came in my uppercase box. I literally danced while filming myself for Instagram. Yeah there was some excitement. Now if you read my review for this book you’ll know that I didn’t hate this book by any means. But it was underwhelming. I had a few issues with the pacing and just my overall enjoyment wasn’t super high.

2. Queen of Hearts Saga

20410977

This book and it’s sequel were on my February TBR. I started the first one on the last day of January. It started off okay. But then I just got so bored. I mean you know what the ultimate end result of the trilogy will be. (Dinah becomes the Queen of Hearts) But I was just so un interested in the day to day crap that was happening in this first book. The characters were overly emotional with no reason given. Dinah assumes some things based on other people’s behavior and makes rash decision. I just couldn’t get behind it. So at 33% I DNF-ed this novel. Sad day.

3. Easy

The romance in this was disgusting and not believable for me. I can’t get behind this book.

4. Maybe Someday

18143950

Everyone raves about Colleen Hoover and this book in particular. It just fell flat for me and I hated the whole plot. I don’t really enjoy stories where cheating is justified.

5. Fairest

22489107

I really liked the other books in the Lunar Chronicles. But Fairest made me so annoyed. I know Levanna is the bad guy, and she was always going to be the bad guy. But what she went through didn’t equal the level of crazy she turned into. Instead of blaming her sister she blames…the world? Huh?

6. The Heir

22918050

The first time I read this book I HATED Eadlyn. Like I ranted and ranted about her on goodreads. I messaged all my friends and just trash talked her. I couldn’t stand her as a character. Now upon reflection I don’t hate her. But she still doesn’t live up to my love of America and Maxon. I just loved the two of them so much and Eadlyn not very much at all.

7. We Were Liars

16143347

This was like THE YA book to read a year or two back. So me and my best friend decided to read it together. We HATED it. First of all I predicted the ending within chapters. But mostly, I just hated the main character. She was annoying and her first person narration was obnoxious. I was pulling teeth to finish this book.

8. Suicide Notes From Beautiful Girls

18244970

This book was flat out boring. I would skim and still want to hit someone. So I stopped reading it and gave it away. haha.

9. The Problem With Forever

26721568

I have really enjoyed some of Armentrout’s previous works. But this book had too many plot lines going and not enough focus on the character development. No Bueno.

10. A Madness So Discreet

24376529

I get this book recommended to me all the time when people find out I enjoy mental health novels. But I can’t convey how utterly bored I was while reading the first 1/3. I just couldn’t force myself to read it any longer. Sorry guys.

Well that’s my list of books I loved less than I thought I would. Let me know down in the comments a book that you loved less than you thought you would. I hope you’re having a marvelous day!

I haven’t read any except Ever the Hunted and I do agree with you on it. I want to read Stars Above. I still have yet to read any books by Colleen Hoover even though many bloggers suggested them to me last year. Great list of books you choose here!

I’ve seen We Were Liars on a number of TTT’s today even though so many bloggers seem to love it. I haven’t read it personally because I didn’t like the writing style from the blurb I read forever ago. I DNF’ed Easy over a year ago, and it’s another one that keeps popping up on disappointment lists, so it’s unlikely I’ll pick it back up. Great list though, I can definitely relate. Here’s my TTT!

Aw sorry you didn’t enjoy Ever The Hunted! I’ve been highly anticipating this one, but I’ve read several reviews of people who were disappointed with it so now I’m hesitating in picking it up as well… And I had the same problem with another Colleen Hoover Book. Everybody was raving about her books so I tried Ugly Love but didn’t enjoy it, so now I’m not sure I want to try her other books.

I wasn’t a fan of we were liars either, it was so raved about and I though it was mediocre at best…just so much disappointment. I also read the problem with forever because I love Jen. I did enjoy it but I also felt like something was wrong with it, it wasn’t the best…
